Cigarette Smoke, Tattoos, and Rum Breath

Lolo T & Lola I's house is getting a face lift too. It was amazing what was discovered when the 1st floor ceiling was removed: rotten floor joists, eaten away by termites over decades. It was incredible that no one had fallen through the floors!

So now, the joists have been replaced and coated with tar for good measure.

On the second floor, men at work re-install the original wood flooring.

Forget the OSHA violations here. There are just too many to count!

After getting a lungful of second hand cigarette smoke, I head back outside for cleaner air.

The rice fields were lonely with inactivity. Even the tiller lay still.

These were the men at work...

Don't let the picture fool you. They were actually working.

Guarding the rice sprouts from Maja birds.

What Maja bird wouldn't be scared away by this ferocious looking man at work, tattoo and rum breath and all!

[For the record, this fellow is one of my crazy relatives.]
