Zories in Truk

Papa B and Yaya have been hard at work pairing up wayward zories.

Zories, pronounced choh-ree in Trukese are flip-flops. It's the preferred footwear of the islands because:

  1. Easy on, easy off.
  2. So many styles of the same design, from plain rubber to fringy canvas.
  3. Infinite colors from solids, to stripes, and even floral prints.
  4. Most importantly-  I probably should have listed this as #2-  extremely versatile in our weather. It's the typhoon season, and as such rains and squalls are nearly unpredictable. With the wet weather comes muddy roads, so muddy they ruin shoes forever. What's nice about zories is that they wash off very easily, not to mention dry off rather quickly so long as they don't tread in any more puddles.
The reason Papa B and Yaya are busy pairing up wayward zories is because the footwear were scattered from their proper packaging when shoppers try them on.

Looks easy enough: purple and purple, floral and floral, etc.

But after sorting through three boxfuls of zories, this is inevitably what's left: same color, different sizes. This may be a very good predicament for someone like me, whose right foot is slightly longer than the left foot. Which, alas, is still a problem with this particular pair. Hmph.

Papa B and Yaya have paired up enough zories to fill dozens of extra large boxes.
