Chapter 5: Buckin' Bronco, the Old Ladies Sang!


Bronco: (or bronc) a term used in the U.S., northern Mexico and Canada to refer to an untrained horse or one that habitually bucks.

Buckin' Chute: the stock pens in a rodeo arena where the wild horses and bulls are placed. Cowboys and cowgirls then place their riding equipment on the animal and mount for their ride. A gate that opens up into the arena is flung wide when the competitior nods their head.

If the rider is lucky enough make the 8 seconds - or, worse case scenario, he cannot detach from the bucking mount - he may be plucked to safety by two "pick-up riders" who move in and attempt to rescue the him.











Close up the chutes, get out the polls and the barrels!








"How do you know when to start and stop the clock?" I asked the timer.

She answered: "when the flag goes up, and down."





Duhhhh...




Now bring out the old ladies of the rodeo!







Whattaya say, John? Quits?

Yup, it's over when the old ladies sing.
